Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

Safe and effective technology

Our Laser Therapists are experienced in operating the market-leading Laser Hair Removal technology, suitable for all skin tones.

Permanent hair reduction

Unlike other hair removal options, our medical-grade Laser Hair Removal means fast, safe, cost-effective, reliable, and permanent hair reduction.

Reduce ingrown hairs

Laser Hair Removal works by directing concentrated light to target the hair follicle at the root. The laser inhibits the hair’s ability to grow without disrupting or damaging the skin’s surface, so even the most sensitive skin can be treated.

Convenient & cost effective

We have the most affordable Laser Hair Removal prices and will match any competitor's price. Click here for details on our Price Match Guarantee.

How it works

Our experienced therapists will take your skin and hair type into account before creating a personalised treatment plan.

Our lasers use a large treatment spot size which allows multiple hair follicles to be targeted at the same time.

Shave

Shave the treatment area the night before your appointment.

No Wax

Do not wax in the 4 weeks leading up to your appointment as pigment is required in the hair follicle for the laser to identify the hair and treatment to be effective.

Avoid Direct Sunlight

Allow 4 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had direct sun exposure. (Any kind of tanning or active sunbathing, with or without SPF). Allow 2 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had incidental sun exposure  (stayed in the shade for the majority of the time during sunny periods, with or without SPF on).

Avoid Using Topical Creams

Avoid using topical creams, moisturisers, body oils, colognes or perfumes to the area being treated 24 hours prior to treatment.

If you are unsure, please contact your local clinic and we will be happy to advise you. Please reschedule your appointment if need be.

Post care

There may be some mild heat and redness in areas that have been treated. Soothe any redness and sensitivity with Skinstitut® Laser Aid. This can be applied liberally for 3-5 days or until the skin has returned to its pre-treatment state.

Things to avoid

For 24 hours post-treatment, avoid shaving, waxing, or plucking hair, exfoliation, excessive sweating, swimming or saunas, very hot showers, and tight restrictive clothing.

Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight for minimum 2-4 weeks after your treatment and always use the Skinstitut® Age Defence 50+ sunscreen to protect the skin and maintain results.

Skincare

Skinstitut® Glycolic Scrub 14% is recommended to use 5 days post-treatment to ensure the hair is encouraged to shed from the follicle and aid in the treatment of ingrown hairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question not listed below? Visit our FAQ page to find more answers and info about our complete range of laser, skin, and cosmetic procedures.

  • What do I need to do to prepare for my Laser Hair Removal appointment?
    • Shave treatment area at least 12-24 hours prior to your treatment.
    • Avoid chemical peels or laser resurfacing treatments at least 4 weeks before your treatment.
    • Exfoliate the treatment area at least 3 days before your treatment.
    • Ensure all fake tan is removed and there is no residual fake tan present on the skin 24 hours before your treatment.
    • Allow 4 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had direct sun exposure. (Any kind of tanning or active sunbathing, with or without SPF). Allow 2 weeks prior to your treatment if you have had incidental sun exposure  (stayed in the shade for the majority of the time during sunny periods, with or without SPF on).
    • Avoid using topical creams, moisturisers, body oils, colognes or perfumes to the area being treated 24 hours prior to treatment.
    • Do not wax, use depilatory creams or pluck hairs four weeks prior to laser treatment.
  • How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal?

Depending on the hair, skin type, and body area being treated, you will require treatments at 4-6 weeks intervals. For the facial area, treatments can be done at 2-4 week intervals. Each part of the facial and body area has a different growing cycle, so hair reduction will vary depending on what stage your follicles are in at the time of the treatment.

After each treatment hair is reduced hence it is important to complete the course of 10 treatments and at consistent intervals for best results. We recommend a series of 8-10 treatments and maintenance treatments every 2-3 months for permanent hair reduction.

  • Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?

One of the benefits of Laser Hair Removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than a second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin. We use an advanced cooling machine in conjunction with our laser device to reduce the heat sensation on the skin and minimise any discomfort.

  • Do you offer numbing for Laser Hair Removal?

Unfortunately, topical numbing creams are not safe nor effective when doing Laser Hair Removal. The sensation you feel in treatment is not felt on the skin, but in the follicle of the hair. Unfortunately numbing cream cannot penetrate deep enough to minimise discomfort that may be felt at the follicle. Please ensure that no occlusive creams are present on the treatment areas when undergoing laser hair removal treatments.

  • How long should I go in between Laser Hair Removal appointments?

Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals. Each part of the body has a different hair growth cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.

  • What skin tones can get Laser Hair Removal?

At Laser Clinics we treat all skin tones with our market-leading laser hair removal technology. Our Laser technicians use the Fitzpatrick Classification scale to determine your skin tone at consultation and select the most suitable setting for your laser hair removal treatment. Please be advised that your settings may change throughout your course to ensure optimal results.

  • I have dark skin, can I get Laser Hair Removal?

Because we use the most advanced medical-grade technology for our laser hair removal treatments, we can treat all skin tones. Our laser technicians use the Fitzpatrick Classification Scale to determine your skin type at the consultation, allowing for the most suitable setting to be selected for your hair removal treatment. Your laser technician will assess your skin at each consultation and treat you using the most appropriate settings for your skin type and recent results. Your settings will change throughout the course of your laser hair removal treatments to ensure optimal results.

  • What is the minimum age for Laser Hair Removal?

Our customers must be at least 18 years of age to have any laser or skin treatments.

For persons aged 13-17, the Parent/guardian must be present for consultation and first treatment and understand the procedure and aftercare.

We advise that due to hormonal changes/puberty, we do not recommend under 12 years of age.

Laser Clinics may request a valid form of ID to identify the age of the prospective client.

  • What Laser Hair Removal machines do you use?

At Laser Clinics, we use market-leading Laser Hair Removal technology. Our advanced cooling machines used in all laser treatments cool your skin before, during and post-treatment to minimise any discomfort.

  • Can I still get Laser Hair Removal if I am pregnant?

Based on current medical advice, we are unable to perform laser hair removal during the first trimester of pregnancy. We advise clients in the second or third trimester of pregnancy, to obtain mandatory medical clearance prior to proceeding with treatment.

  • Can I get Laser Hair Removal if I have Epilepsy?

Epilepsy sufferers are advised to consult with their doctor about having Laser Hair Removal. An individual will need to obtain medical clearance from their doctor prior to starting treatment. At Laser Clinics, we also offer various options of protective eyewear to ensure your safety at all times during treatment.

  • Can I have Laser Hair Removal if I am on certain medications?

Certain medications can cause photo-sensitivity to the skin and this may affect the skin's reaction to the treatment. These medications are but not limited to oral and topical vitamin A's, antibiotics, and certain anti-depressants. It is best to speak with your medical professional and obtain medical clearance. After obtaining medical clearance, we are able to test patch you with the laser to determine it is safe to commence treatment.
